If predictions for this year are to be believed， then things will become much more palatable – if you’ll pardon the pun. Amongst the unmistakable and diverse colour explosion this season， purple and pink， or specifically purplish-pink blends such as Pantone’s Radiant Orchid for example， are tipped to be the hottest hues of the Spring Summer 2014 season for both fashion and interiors. Soft lilac， lavender and pink shades will create warm and cosy environments and vivid pinks and deeper purple pinks and tints will provide perfect bold accents.
Radiant Orchid’s name， however， couldn’t be more apt. This vividpersonalized baby gifts， uplifting and radiant colour takes its inspiration from the many beautiful， stunning and inspirational shades of Mother Nature’s velvet petals – so what could be more apt and radiant for an uplifting burst of Spring colour？pillow cases solid
And whilst there is no denying that this certainly is a bold and vibrant shade it is also versatile and accommodating for interiors (unlike its emerald predecessor) and a shade not to be revered or shied away from. Well not in my opinion anyway， although you will find many differing views from professionals and colour experts， both for and against this new colour trend.
But， as far as I’m concerned， whether this adorable new shade is used as a main colour scheme or simply an accent， in volume or in minute touches， it will work well in interior schemes， even for the colour cautious. In fairness to Pantone’s confident prediction that this will be the colour of the year， it is as I have already mentioned a colour that is truly versatile. Feminine but not too girly， masculine enough to use as an accent colour with black， grey or taupe； and vibrant and cheerful enough to be uplifting for the spring and summer head. Let’s remind ourselves how Pantone see it working in our interiors this year.
“Spruce up interior spaces by incorporating this eye-catching hue in paint， accent pieces and accessories. As adaptable as it is beautiful， Radiant Orchid complements olive and deeper hunter greens， and offers a gorgeous combination when paired with turquoise， teal and even light yellows. Likewise， the vibrant colour is sure to liven up neutrals including gray， beige and taupe. Uplifting and bold without being overpowering， Radiant Orchid reenergizes almost any colour palette and provides a unifying element for diverse spaces.”
I thought we’d take a look at how to decorate with Radiant Orchid and， in fact， with pink and purple tones in general； as I have encountered many different， ‘adapted’ shades of pinkish-purples during my research， all loosely labelled as Radiant Orchid. I have endeavoured to put together a comprehensive collection of tips， visual inspirations and brilliant examples of how to add the perfect dose of these versatile tones to any room in your home； be it period or modern， large or small， grand or understated (and of course have included some relevant product to help you to create that designer look in your home for less).
Of course I’m not saying that you should re-decorate your home with Radiant Orchid this season. Discerning home owners with their own sense of personal style will continue to use whatever colours they favour in their homes， despite any predicted ‘colour of the year.’ And it is also true that any colour can look stunning and stylish when？executed properly. But， if you do want to take inspiration from what’s trending then here it is ？
